“I’M SORRY FOR MEN BECAUSE THEY CAN’T HAVE BABIES” – CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE

Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has said that she feels sorry for men because they can’t have the experience of giving birth.
She said this during an interview with online entertainment publication, Vulture, where she spoke about how motherhood has affected her writing career.

She revealed that becoming a mother opened up “a new emotional plane” that has contributed to her art positively.
“My baby happened, and it’s important to talk honestly about this, because having her changed a lot.Having a child gets in the way of writing. It does. You can’t own your time the way you used to.
But the other thing that motherhood does — and I kind of feel sorry for men that they can’t have this — is open up a new emotional plane that can feed your art.”

“I only have feelings of enormous gratitude for this club and for this city,” Ronaldo wrote in an open letter to Real Madrid fans. “I have had nine absolutely wonderful years at the club.
“Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you: thank you to the club, the president, the directors, my colleagues, all the staff, doctors, physios and incredible people that make everything work.”

Wedding photographer beats up groom who wanted to marry a 15-year-old girl in Turkey (Photo)

A wedding photographer from the eastern Turkish province of Malatya has been declared a hero on social media after he beat up a groom upon learning that he was going to get married to a 15-year-old girl.

The photographer, Onur Albayrak admitted that he beat the groom and tried to stop a wedding after learning that the bride was a child.
“Yes, the reports are correct. A child bride means child abuse, and no force in the world can make me photograph a child as a bride,” Albayrak said on his Facebook account on July 7, adding that he did not regret his actions.

According to local media reports, Albayrak was hired to photograph the wedding at Malatya’s Turgut Özal Nature Park on July 5. When he noticed that the bride-to-be did not look like an adult, Albayrak reportedly asked the groom about her age.
The photographer reacted angrily when the groom answered that the bride was only 15 years old.

The two men soon started fighting, and the groom’s nose was broken in the quarrel, according to the reports.
“The groom had come to my studio some two weeks ago and was alone. I saw the bride for the first time at the wedding. She’s a child, and I felt her fear because she was trembling. The groom attacked me as I was leaving,” Albayrak said, noting that he is “happy to manifest his reaction.”

According to Turkish law, the minimum age to marry for both men and women is 18. Only in exceptional situations, a judge order is required to marry off 17-year-olds. It is not legal to marry younger in any condition in Turkey.

Drunk police officer shoots woman dead in front of her six-year-old daughter in Calabar(photo)

The life of 32-year-old Victoria Ekpe, pictured above, has been abruptly cut short after a drunk policeman, Sergeant Edu Nkanu, who is also her neighbour at 11 Joseph Mkpa Street, Calabar, shot her to death in front of her six-year-old daughter last Sunday.
According to reports, the drunk police officer had staggered home moments before he pulled his trigger.
Narrating what happeed, a sister of the deceased, Elizabeth Bassey, who survived the bullet of the trigger-happy policeman, said

''On Sunday evening myself and my late cousin went out and came back by 8:30p.m. She remained at the passage pressing her phone while I went in to change. By the time I came out she was still on her phone, and she asked me what was going on inside the room and I told her nothing. At that particular time, Nkanu came back from an outing and we heard our mummy, who was outside, asking him what he brought from his outing. He told her he did not come home with anything. He left our mother and came to the passage where we were standing. I asked him why he always gets drunk anytime he goes out. Immediately, he turned and brought out a pistol from his pocket, cocked it and pointed it at me saying, ‘This is what I brought from the party.’ I got scared and ran inside the house. My late sister was still busy with her phone on the passage not paying attention to our direction. Nkanu then turned the gun in her direction and shot her by her neck.”
Another witness and elder sister to the late Victoria, Ekanem Ekpe, said her sister was killed in front of her six-year-old daughter, Blessing, who drew attention of all to the death of her mother while screaming. Ekanem said she was inside the house when she heard the gunshot
“But I did not come out immediately until I heard Blessing screaming, ‘Uncle you have killed my mummy,’ that was when I came out, and behold, my sister was lying down dead, blood was gushing out from the side of her neck. I saw him with a gun and I asked, ‘Nkanu, what happened, you have killed my sister.’ He was just starring at the gun and at my sister. All what he could say was, ‘Mma Nurse, I don’t know what happened.’ That was when I held him and started shouting before people gathered and managed to collect the gun from him. I don’t understand why a policeman would rather take people’s lives instead of saving lives. We were told at the police station that he had killed someone like this before when he was serving in Obubra. He has a criminal file with the police before now. Please we want justice for my sister.”
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Irene Ugbo, said the police officer has been arrested and would be charged to court soon.
“The policeman has been arrested; he is in our custody and we are going to deal with him decisively because the gun that he used to shoot the deceased is not our gun. It is a locally made pistol; so he is going to tell us where he got that gun from and who ordered him to shoot an innocent woman. There was no quarrel between them as we were told. Although we heard that he was used to threatening people in the house; and that particular day, he released the bullet. We are going to try him for murder, dismiss him and send him to court.” she said
On the allegation that he had killed a person before, she said, “I don’t know about that but that was what I also heard, investigation will prove if it is true.”

Photos: Premium Times points out discrepancies between Kemi Adeosun's alleged forged NYSC discharge certificate with another obtained in July of 2009

Below is a report by Premiumtimes, comparing the alleged forged NYSC discharge certificate of Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and another that was optained in July of 2009, two months before Adeosun was issued hers in September 2009. Read part of the report below

A Certificate of Exemption issued in July 2009, two months before Mrs Adeosun obtained her own, was obtained by PREMIUM TIMES Tuesday.
A cursory look at the certificate reveals a document that is completely different from what the minister presented for her appointment in late 2015.
On a close look at the two documents, PREMIUM TIMES identified about ten differences that stand out the fake from the original.
Some of the discrepancies identified corroborated the verdicts passed by NYSC officials as reported earlier.

The fake NYSC exemption certificate alongside an original exemption certificate issued the same year highlighting several discrepancies.
The serial number placed at the top right-hand side of the certificate, appear different. The font characters are different, so also are their placements, with the one on the fake one farther away from the edges.

The fake NYSC exemption certificate alongside an original exemption certificate issued the same year.
The numbering sequence also suggest that the fake certificate has doctored numbering. The original is numbered 000131816 (one hundred and thirty one thousand, eight hundred and sixteen) while the numbers in the doctored one, instead of going up, comparable to the period between the two dates of issue, nosedived to 000048932 (Forty eight thousand, nine hundred and thirty two).

The fourth difference comes in the line reading “Certificate of Exemption” while the wordings are bold in the certificate issued in July, in Mrs Adeosun’s that was issued in September, the characters were not emboldened.
Additionally, the “T” beginning the line; “This is to certify” was in bold in the original while the fake certificate carried it in plain style.
Point six: The original line has “of” written in between the space separating day and month, while the fake one was just a straight line without the “of” separator.
Another difference is in the calligraphy which markedly differ between the two. Calligraphy discrepancy is one of the areas staff of NYSC pointed out to PREMIUM TIMES in the course of determining the veracity of Mrs Adeosun’s ‘certificate’.
Eighth: The writings below the name quoting relevant sections of the NYSC Act to justify the exemption are spaced in the fake certificate while in the original they are without any space.

Most importantly, however, the certificate issued in July was signed by Maharazu Tsiga, the then director general while the purported certificate of Mrs Adeosun, allegedly issued in September, carries the signature of Yusuf Bomoi, who left the agency in January.

Nigerian Lady Arrested With Cocaine Concealed In Her Veejay

A Nigerian woman has been arrested by detectives of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Kolkata, India, with 20 LSD blots and cocaine concealed in her private parts.

David Blessing, 30, was picked up, on Monday, at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, after landing from Mumbai.
Speaking to News18, NCB Kolkata Zonal Head, Dilip Kumar Srivastava, said, “During the search, our lady officers found only 20 LSD blots from her bag. But later she took out 12 grams of Cocaine from her private parts.
She was having pain in her lower abdomen and revealed that more contraband substances were concealed inside her vagina. We immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital where her trans-vaginal USG report confirmed our hunch.”
Preliminary investigations revealed that Blessing was staying in Mumbai for the last two years on business visa and the consignment seized from her possession was meant for a person in Kolkata.
